Wacoan: Do renovation projects always increase the sales price of your home?
Melissa Harrell: Not all renovations bring you a dollar-for-dollar return so it is important to consider which updates appeal to most buyers. Consider renovations that improve the functionality of your home. Kitchen and bathroom renovations are often most attractive to buyers and may possibly impact your sales price and appraisal values although including too much customization may not have widespread appeal. Sometimes, a fresh coat of paint, updates to flooring, some curb appeal, and routine maintenance projects will not be as costly and will help increase your sales price.
